Vortex rope mitigation with azimuthal perturbations: A numerical study

چکیده
Abstract A novel method to mitigate the rotating vortex rope is investigated numerically on a propeller turbine using ANSYS CFX. Pulsating momentum injected in horizontal plane diffuser cone from four evenly spaced jets. Three mitigation strategies are tested; M1 which perpendicular axial flow direction, M2, exhibit 12 degree angle against tangential velocity cone, and finally M3, same as M2 but at 15 % higher rate. It shown that attempts M1, M3 decrease amplitude of mode by 51%,96% 97%, respectively. The plunging mode, other hand, increase for all attempts. However, unperturbed RVR an order magnitude smaller than thus, overall pressure fluctuations decreases significantly. more efficient attempt explained contour show significantly reduced downstream injection between injections, not case M1.

A Numerical and Analytical Study of Vortex Rings with Swirl
We study the growth of disturbances to vortex rings with swirl, which are exact solutions of the Euler equations of inviscid ow, using two contrasting methods. The motion of the perturbed vortex rings can be regarded as a prototype for the inviscid dynamics of vortex structures in 3D. Exact rings with swirl are computed as steady, axisymmetric ows using a variational method. Asymptotic analysis...
متن کاملAzimuthal vortex clusters in Bose-Einstein condensates
We describe, analytically and numerically, topologically nontrivial stationary states with azimuthal modulation of density in a repulsive Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) confined in a harmonic trap. We show that, depending on the number of density peaks and total topological charge, these states can have a sophisticated phase texture associated with a vortex cluster. For a given topological char...
متن کاملNumerical Study on Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Using a Submerged Breakwater
Most coastal structures have been built in surf zones to protect coastal areas. In general, the transformation of waves in the surf zone is quite complicated and numerous hazards to coastal communities may be associated with such phenomena. Therefore, the behavior of waves in the surf zone should be carefully analyzed and predicted. Furthermore, an accurate analysis of deformed waves around coa...
متن کاملA numerical study of vortex dynamics of flexible wing propulsors
The dynamic properties such as time dependent pressure loading, speed, free stream velocity, and local acceleration of the hydrofoil determine the instantaneous deformation of the hydrofoil, which has effect on the propulsive characteristics of the aquatic animal. A potential flow analysis is done on the flexible hydrofoil, to evaluate the both inertial and elastic effects on propulsive charact...
متن کاملDecay of soliton-like perturbations into vortex - anti vortex pairs
This paper suggests a method to create dark soliton-like waves in a trapped atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). With the phase imprinting method, a soliton-like disturbance is produced along the x-axis. The method is used in two cases (with and without rotation of a trapping potential). The disturbance in a two-dimensional (2D) system is unstable. The soliton-like perturbation is found to de...
